Resource Equity

The uneven distribution of resources is at the root of much poverty

and is one of the greatest tools of structural racism.  Within Chicago's LGBTQ communities, most resources are diverted to Northside communities and away from South and West side communities of color.  Large scale health institutions on the Chicago's Northside, such as the Center on Halsted and Howard Brown, consume a disproportionate amount of health resources - leaving agencies serving LGBTQ people of color on the South and West sides of the City to starve and close their doors in the face of lack of resources.  Gender JUST works towards urban resources sustainability and equity as a central function of organizing.
